Territory's best known (and most used) rail trail. There
are two sections Darwin (sealed) and Katherine (still more
a bushwalk than a developed trail).

NAR 2-6-4 Loco
Australia Railway (NAR) narrow gauge (1067mm) line ran from
Darwin to Birdum. Built as the Palmerston (that is, Darwin)
division of the South Australian Railways, it was extended
to Emungalan on the Katherine River in May 1917 and eventually
to Birdum whilst under Commonwealth Railway control. The
last train ran on on 30 June 1976.
